Hello, my name is Cindee Ferris and here is my quilting story.
Since I was a young girl, I have always enjoyed sewing and crafting. Originally, my dreams were to design clothing, primarily, evening and wedding gowns. Costumes and vintage clothes were also of interest.
It wasn't until my sister was getting married that I discovered quilting. I was browsing through a McCall's magazine and came across a quilt that would be the perfect wedding gift. After three attempts and many dollars later came my first quilt. That was 17 years ago. I was hooked! I decided that was the end of dressmaking, and onto quilt design. It seemed strange to me that it took so long to discover something that balanced all my interests. Fabric, design, sewing and color! I could not get enough.
The newspaper came with an article regarding the local quilt guild. It was there that a world opened up for me. I would come home from guild meetings and couldn't sleep. Designs were flooding my brain. Not too mention, I met so many wonderful ladies who all shared in the very things I enjoyed.
We moved away after 3 years to a new area where I knew no one. Quilting has a wonderful way of connecting us to others. I found a great quilt shop where I visited often. There was a person there that I became friends with. In that friendship, she encouraged me to take my designs to Quilt Market, and by Spring, I was off to Market with 6 designs. This began Quilted Treasures. I am so thankful to her, because of all the doors that have opened.
Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a Longarm Quilt Machine. This business offered me an opportunity to stay home with my boys while they were growing up. I had a brief four years as a sales rep for APQS, the company for whom my machine was built. In the spring of 2005, I moved my business out of the home and into a business suite. It was a fabulous endeavor with complete support from family and friends. We started out with machine quilting services, then supplies, rentals, and machine sales. Due to situations beyond my control, I needed to scale down and move my business back home. It was a great experience and I am so glad for it. I continue to do machine quilting for clients in my home studio.
Thank you for stopping by. Grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the website! Check in from time to time as I will add new things to inspire you!
Happy Quilting!
